A simple paragraph of "I launched in my xwing and proceded to blow stuff up" is not a valid narrative. Same simpleness applies to your BIO as well. Be creative, have fun with your character. You don't have to spell out everything about yourself, just use your imagination. Check out our ROSTERS pages and randomly click on a member and check out thier CHARACTER info. You'll find plenty of examples of bios.
In addition to this basic information, it is advised that you submit a narrative. (This is also a requirement to graduate with honors.) Cadets should submit narratives as if the mission were flying a sim. A narrative should be more than just, "I blew stuff up." Instead, it should include a more detailed description of the flight, such as:
"We dropped back into realspace a couple of clicks from the corvettes. I dumped my laser energy into my shields, upped the recharge rate, and targetted the nearest fighter. Kriff. A trio of squints. I ordered my wingman to attack the first, then set my sites on the second." Etc.
Narratives can be told in either first or third person. They can be greatly enhanced by including other members of your cadet group, conversations with your instructor and other command staff, etc. If you do this, however, make sure to follow proper group fiction etiquette. This includes things like not killing of anyone's character without permission, not having someone act out of character, etc. If you're not certain about something you want to post, have your flight instructor look over the narrative before you submit it to the Command Staff.
Narratives need not be confined only to mission reports. Feel free to enter into conversations and other role-play activities with your cadets. This is good practice for being part of a squadron once you leave the Academy. In dealing with other members of the Academy (and the entire RS), remember to be respectful of others' feelings and beliefs, and to give others the benefit of a doubt.
For narrative ideas, check out our ITOD pages and click on the current PBF mission, then click on the word NARRATIVE in the list, or you can check out PBF Mission 6.07 here. Read some of the narratives there and it should give you ideas for your own narratives.
The occasional use of Star Wars slang can greatly enhance your reports. This table can be an invaluable friend.
