X-Wing for Mac
The Mac version of X-Wing follows the general direction that the PC floppy version does. Ie. Storing the missions on the hard-drive. Because of this, running custom missions is fairly easy. The problem is, that since most of the missions I know of are made on a PC, the Mac seems to think they are text files, and doesn't like running them.
The fix that I know of for this, is to upgrade your version of X-Wing, using the Mac X-Wing patch and also use a proper PC >> Mac file conversion program. Please download and install the patch, before running custom missions.
Here is the info that you need to run custom missions on the Mac...
1)You must have X-wing installed on your hard drive (Medium, or Maximum install).
2)In the folder titled "X-wing" on you hard drive, you will find a folder titled "X-wing Data". Open this folder and create a new folder inside it, titled "Mission". This is the folder you will place your custom missions in.
3)Download the custom mission you want to fly and,
Rename "JediWar1.xwi" to "DEFECT.xwi"
Rename "JediWar1.brf" to "DEFECT.brf"
4)Place the newly renamed missions in the "Mission" folder.
Enter the game as normal, and create a new pilot. Enter the X-Wing Tour 1, mission 1, and there you go! The custom mission will be ready to play.
5)Before running a different mission, you should remove the mission and briefing files from the "Mission" folder.
NOTE: If the .brf file shows up on your desktop as a text document, do not place it in the "Mission" folder. It will cause your computer to freeze when you try to view the briefing. Instead, just move the .xwi file to the "Mission" folder and run it as normal, ignoring the briefing that comes up in the game.
If you have any problems with getting the custom missions running (it's not very hard), please email the Trainning Officer at:
