Description: You fly solo against a variety of Alliance craft in ever increasing difficulty.

Intent: In this mission you will learn how to survive against seemingly overwhelming odds. You will have to dodge missiles, dogfight with all the shielded ships the New Republic has to offer, and choose your targets wisely in order to survive.

  2. X-wing - one wave of two, Veteran
  3. X-wing - one wave of three, Ace
  4. X-wing - one wave of four, Top Ace
  5. A-wing - one wave of one, Officer
  6. A-wing - one wave of two, Veteran
  7. A-wing - one wave of three, Ace
  8. A-wing - one wave of four, Top Ace
  9. Y-wing - one wave of one, Officer
  10. Y-wing - one wave of two, Veteran
  11. Y-wing - one wave of three, Ace
  12. Y-wing - one wave of four, Top Ace
  13. B-wing - one wave of one, Officer
  14. B-wing - one wave of two, Ace
  15. B-wing - one wave of three, Top Ace

Goal: All craft must be destroyed except for Officers.

Time Limit: 40 minutes.

Setup: Each subsequent wave of craft will enter on, or shortly thereafter, the destruction of the preceding wave.

As you enter, there will already be a lone X-wing patrolling the area. In a few seconds, a Y-wing Officer, B-wing Officer and an A-wing Officer will enter the area. These fighters serve as a warming up, and destruction of each will bring in the subsequent wave of the similar craft, with increased skill and added numbers. Choose your targets wisely, as often leaving a single target unscathed while you take out the other fighters is wiser than letting a stronger wave enter the area and hunt you down.

The A-wings are the most threatening, as they will track you with missiles from far off. Try to pump up your speed and cover the distance between you as soon as possible. When they are too near, they can't fire missiles. Often, one or two missiles get fired in the process, so you'll need to utilize your missile dodging techniques you learnt in the past missions.

The X-wings are tricky, since a singleburst of quad lasers will hurt you greatly. Avoid head-to-head conflicts, and twist your stick to follow them once they've passed you. Because of their wide shape, X-wings make excellent targets, and you can easily follow through with a kill once you've gotten the first shot in. Beware of the other craft in the area, as in your haste to vape a target, you can tend to ignore damage to your shields until it's too late.

The Y-wings and B-wings provide target practice. Slow and not very maneuverable, they almost always cannot dodge your continuous fire. However, they tend to slow down as their shields weaken, and it's easy to overshoot them during this stage. Even with their weakened shields, their hulls pack quite a punch, and unless you're in a Y-wing or a B-wing yourself, a collision with them would almost guarantee suicide on your part.

Always disable the last ship in a wave if you have ion capability. This will allow you to kill all the others without consecutive waves entering the area and taking pot shots at you.

If you don't have ions, then the bestthing to do is to max your shield energy to your engines, and leave your laser recharge max-ed. You'll be able to supplement your shields with energy from your lasers - try setting your lasers only to increased if you need extra speed. This is especially important when you are engaging A-wings. It's often easier to hit them when they are near you.

Timing is critical in this mission. Spend too much time engaging a wave, and you might not have enough time to complete the mission before the time expires. Remember that all enemy craft are shielded, and will need a lot more hits to kill.

Good luck!
